Duct Installer / Sheetmetal Worker

$32–$35 per hour | Commercial Projects | Long-Term Opportunities

A busy mechanical services contractor is seeking experienced Duct Installers and Sheetmetal Workers to join their team, primarily across Christchurch, with opportunities available in other regions.

These roles offer a mix of commercial HVAC duct installation, sheetmetal fabrication and general mechanical services work. The successful candidates will have practical experience working with ductwork, be confident using hand and power tools, and take pride in producing quality workmanship.

The Role

• Install commercial HVAC ductwork across various construction sites
• Fabricate and assemble sheetmetal ducting and components
• Work with rectangular, spiral and associated duct systems
• Measure, cut, modify and install ductwork to site requirements
• Install duct supports, brackets, fittings, grilles and diffusers
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and installation plans
• Work alongside mechanical contractors and other site trades
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and site safety

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a Duct Installer or Sheetmetal Worker
• Experience with commercial duct installation and/or fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Competent with hand tools, power tools and sheetmetal equipment
• Good understanding of ductwork installation methods and practices
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently or within a team
• Strong commitment to health and safety
