Looking back at 2025: were our predictions correct?

2026 is already here but before we dive headfirst into the new year, it’s time to reflect on 2025. Last year, we made some huge predictions about the job market, workplace trends, sports and even a few fun ones.

So…did we get any right?

Let’s break it down.

The Job Market

We called it: flexibility remained a key factor in employment, and the job market definitely sparked across Auckland, particularly in the second half of the year. Government backed infrastructure projects provided momentum nationwide, and we’re especially looking forward to the opening of the Christchurch Stadium this year and the events it will bring.

Workplace Trends

Wellness, work life balance, and mental health remained top priorities and we saw a surge in wellness initiatives across the board. Internally, we implemented new perks like birthday leave and long service leave, keeping our teams happy and motivated. Hybrid work stayed strong, and flexible arrangements were more important than ever.

Hits and Misses

Some predictions went our way, others…not so much

  • Liverpool: Premier League yes, Europa League not so much success… Darron, you were halfway there!
  • UFC: Only Israel Adesanya held a UFC title.
  • Joe Parker: Did not regain the heavyweight title, we were deadset on this one!
  • New Zealand Warriors:  Did not make the top 8 in the NRL – fingers crossed this is our year?
  • Half-Marathon: We are proud of Paddy, Amy, Blake, Reg, and Elle for running the Auckland Half Marathon!
  • No country music festival yet in NZ, and Crocs in corporate…still a no, sorry Adam!

Awards and Achievements

We’re proud to have again been nominated for both the Deloitte Fast 50 and the Master of Growth Awards, making us the only recruitment agency in New Zealand to achieve this in 2025. From starting as a one person dream 11 years ago to now ranking as one of the top 8 fastest-growing companies in New Zealand, it’s been an incredible journey.

Now let’s see what 2026 has to offer!
