Head of Engineering/Technical Lead
Location: New Zealand (NZ Work Visa or Residency Required)

What You’ll Be Doing - Team Leadership
- Mentor and support a team of capable software engineers.
- Drive team alignment on priorities, goals, and project delivery.
- Remove roadblocks, support professional development, and build a culture of continuous improvement.
- Make smart decisions by understanding business context and product objectives.
Technical Direction
- Bring strong architecture and design skills to the table.
- Provide expert-level guidance in both front and back end development.
- Champion the use of AI tools and agents in streamlining development processes.
- Write clean, scalable code—particularly in Angular and TypeScript.
- Lead technical problem solving, reviews, and best practice adoption.
- Stay ahead of emerging tools, frameworks, and cloud technologies.
Project Execution
- Manage timelines and delivery with agility and precision.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define scope and refine project goals.
- Navigate risks, issues, and changing priorities with calm and clarity.
- Support cross-functional coordination across teams and departments.
Communication & Culture
- Communicate clearly with team members, stakeholders, and executives.
- Encourage open collaboration and idea-sharing.
- Lead by example and foster a positive, high-performing team environment.
Tech Environment
- Languages & Frameworks: TypeScript, Angular, React, Node.js
- Databases: MongoDB, DynamoDB
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS
- Tools: Git, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, Claude, Cursor
What You Bring
- 6+ years in full stack development, with solid experience across modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Confident in object-oriented principles (OOP) and SOLID design.
- Proven track record designing scalable web applications.
- Knowledge of document and NoSQL databases.
- Passion for AI, with a strong grasp of agents, models, and automated development tools.
- A collaborative spirit, high accountability, and a results-driven mindset.
- Experience with cross-platform app development is a bonus.
- You must be a New Zealand resident or hold a valid NZ working visa.
